As we transition into a post-Covid world, many who live, work, and play in cities and their suburbs are left wondering how this historic period will affect one of our most integral infrastructures: mass transit. After years of momentum in the mass-transit sector many urbanists and planners now fear its popularity may be waning due to concerns about health and safety, potentially leading to a slew of practical changes in our daily commutes. Lambda Alpha Philly is proud to present our next meeting featuring national and local authorities on mass transit policy and practice. Lambda Philly was joined by Professor Yingling Fan, Ph.D. of University of Minnesota and Richard Voith, Ph.D. of Econsult Solutions for a discussion.

Professor Fan is a professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Minnesota. She was recently featured in the National Geographic article “Your Daily Commute Will Never Be The Same.” Prof. Fan is also Director of Global Transit Innovations and Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Transport and Land Use and the North American Editor of Urban Studies.

Richard Voith, Ph.D. is the President and Principal of Econsult Solutions, a major Philadelphia based development, policy, and land use consulting group. From Econsultsolutions.com: “Dr. Voith is a well-known expert in real estate economics, transportation, and applied microeconomics. As president and founding principal of Econsult Solutions, Dr. Richard Voith oversees a wide variety of topics in the realm of housing, labor markets, transportation, and economic development.”
